Toxic Communication - An Example of the Cycle of Conflict in Relationships

June 22nd, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Glenn Cohen Do you have toxic communication in your relationship? This is an example of how someone would explain to their partner how the dynamics of their communication concerning their relationship problem played out. The conversation would start out like this. I remember so many times when we would tell the other that we did not understand something that had happened or could not figure out the meaning of an action or word between us, that had caused so many of the problems. I really believe it is because many times we would have already formed an opinion, perception or assumptions regarding certain situations. They were based on past experience and some were based on recent experiences. Back then, we both ruminated a lot and this caused those opinions, perceptions and assumptions to become very strongly embedded in our belief system. It seems that the scenario would play out this way; There would be a subject that would tap into the past or present experiences. This would bleed the fearful memory into the thought of the subject for one of us. It would then tap into one of the many emotions of anxiety, worry, loss of control, guilt, insecurity, abandonment etc. associated with that memory. Then, I believe this would trigger us to ruminate on the subject. When we ruminate, we are not able to see past our fears and distinguish between past experience and/or present realities. We then develop the misperception and inaccurate assumptions about this certain subject and this would lead to the development of a negative wrong belief about the subject. The incorrect negative belief would be so strong and sensitive from the rumination, that we would be preoccupied by its thought. This would lead to a stronger negative belief and increased hyper-vigilance and acute sensitivity to the subject The next step in the cycle is when we would discuss this situation and the non-sensitized person would try to give their take on the situation to the one with the belief. When the reality did not match an erroneous negative belief held by the sensitized person, the ingredients were in place for volatility. This would lead to easily triggered reactions, emotional tension, and extreme anxiety, seething anger and then rages or withdrawal The problem was we did not have the knowledge and strength to be honest with ourselves because we were so busy fighting to protect our incorrect negative belief. In hind sight I believe the secret to stopping this toxic communication would have been for us to realize that it is all about Giving of ourselves and not taking Always be empathic and forgive Always love unconditionally If faced with a fear, share it safely and then walk through it If only we could have had the help to see how we were casing so much pain and anguish during this cycle to each other, maybe we could have saved our relationship. We all make mistakes; hopefully we will learn from them so in the future we do not repeat them. What is Involved in Believing?

June 19th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Lynn Bradley Believing in God does not necessarily mean we are saved. There is more to salvation than acknowledging a Supreme Being. We are saved by faith, but it must be without doubts. You may publish this article if the resource box is left intact. In Mark 11:24 Jesus said that whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. James indicted that we should not think we will receive anything from the Lord if we doubt and do not believe (1:6). When the blind men in Matthew chapter 9 asked to be given sight, Jesus asked if they believed he could do it. When they answered in the affirmative he replied, According to your faith will it be done to you (verse 29). There is no doubt that faith is necessary for prayers to be answered. The belief system in mankind is extremely complex. We have the conscious and subconscious buried deep within our skulls. Students of the mind write about the subconscious as if it is supernatural. They claim that if we can convince it we truly believe, it can do wonders. Is it really the subconscious that is working the magic or is it God? Our total belief gets his attention and his power is active in all areas of our life. When we speak of self confidence is it believing in our own ability, or does it take in the fact that we rely on God to give us the power to do what we want to? We plan our course, but the Lord determines our steps (PR 16:9), so it is difficult to know precisely what we do of our own power, and what he does through us. When we speak of believing in God, it of necessity includes the beliefs of the conscious and subconscious. When we believe we will receive what we ask God for in prayer, does it come solely from our own thinking, the result of our knowledge of the Bible, or does he have an influence on our optimistic decision? When Jesus was asked if he could cast the evil spirit out of the boy in Mark 9, Jesus said, Everything is possible for him who believes. The boys father exclaimed, I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief (Verse 24). This indicates that we have degrees of belief and unbelief and we get the idea from the verse that Divinity has some influence on our faith. Jude 1:24 states that the Lord can keep us from falling. We dont know how he does this and are not aware when he takes such action. What then does it mean to believe in God? First, we are to love God with all our heart, soul and mind (MT 22:37). In other words, our whole being is to be in harmony with our Creator. The belief of the subconscious is the sum of all the thoughts of the conscious mind. The Bible heart is located in the mind, thought to contain our belief system. This is the love of God; to obey his commands (1JN 5:3). Until one has obeyed his commands, he does not have the love of God, and does not have saving faith. James says faith without action is dead (2:17). We are saved by grace through faith. It is not of works (EPH 2:8). James explains that faith is made complete by what we do (2:22), The Bible meaning of faith is moral conviction of religious truth of God, assurance, belief, fidelity. Believe means to have faith in, to make a commitment to obey him, to put trust in the Godhead. When expressed as the subject and noun, faith or belief is used. If expressed as a verb, believe is used. Verbs require action, so believing without doing is useless. To believe, to have saving faith, is to put complete trust in Jesus, to make him the Lord of your life, it is avoiding willing sins, it is doing what you can for his cause. It is not to be concerned about physical things. It is taking your troubles to Christ and leaving them there. The author of this article also wrote, “Climbing the Heavenly Stairs.” Get the feel of your faith and live life to the full. Get acquainted with the Godhead and develop an unshakaable faith. Learn to depend on the one that makes no mistakes. He has promised to work out everything for the good of those that love and obey him.Read more at http://thelynnbradleybook.com. How to Give Your Biz a Boost with a Summer Marketing Makeover

June 15th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Adam Urbanski Are you on track for hitting all your business goals for the year? A quick check-up of your promotional efforts can reveal “week spots” and help identify what needs tweaking to give your business a healthy boost in the next few months. Here are five key areas to focus on with your mid-year marketing makeover. 1. Clarify Your Objectives (some prefer to call it goals) Are you clear on where want to end up? If you are thinking this has nothing to do with marketing think again! You cannot design and implement effective strategies unless you know exactly what you want to accomplish. If you are looking for a magic formula to give your business a boost here is a tip: there is nothing more powerful than writing down your objectives. Your ability to language and clearly articulate what you want to achieve exponentially increases your chances of getting it! 2. Makeover Your Business Model. Many of my clients paint themselves into a limited-income corner by structuring their business in a wrong way. No matter how hard they work and try, they cant seem to be able to make more money and just end up being more frustrated. Take Debra for example (not her real name). She is a successful small business consultant. Her well developed lead generating process attracts enough clients to actually make them wait a few weeks before she can start working with them. But she still makes only half the money she wants to make. Let me explain… You see, Debras business model is to deliver her services using one on one engagements and she can only handle about 15 clients at a time. With her average monthly client value approaching $1,500 shes right on target to make just over $250,000.00 this year. But she wants to m@ke $500,000.00 can you see the problem? Chances are in some way, you might have a similar challenge your current business model is incapable of producing the results you want. Whats the solution? Here are a few ideas: * Diversify your product/service offering. Analyze the needs of your clients and look for new ways to serve them. (Hint: you do not have to deliver all the solutions yourself instead form strategic alliances). * Find new ways to work with clients. If you work with people one on one start offering group programs. Develop tele-seminars or live workshops. Youll actually be able to attract more clients and exponentially increase your earnings. * Multiply yourself. Chances are if you have a successful service business you are following a proven process. Bring in others who can be trained in facilitating the delivery of your process to clients who are not willing to pay your rate but will settle for working with your associate at a discounted rate. * Develop info products. There is no better way to leverage your knowledge than turning it into passive streams of revenue. If you are not regularly putting out new products you are missing out on a huge opportunity to boost your income. 3. Makeover Your Lead Generating Systems. How many ways are you generating new leads? Do you have at least three to five lead generating vehicles that are consistent and automated? Too many businesses dont understand the lead generating process and depend on vague methods of getting new clients like word of mouth and networking. No having structured and easy to duplicate system to attract attention and turn it into sales is a sure pathway to a total disaster. * If you need clients fast consider direct mail, fax broadcasting, narrowly focused direct-response advertising, strategic alliances, ask your current clients for referrals and dont forget the big one reactivate your past clients! * To ensure long term positioning and visibility in your market place focus on publicity, getting speaking engagements, and writing and publishing articles. 4. Makeover Your Follow-Up. Are you keeping in touch with your clients and prospects? Do you have a way to automatically connect with them at least monthly? If not you are only getting about 20% of the m0ney you could be making! Most people give up following up after just three attempts. Most prospects dont make a buying decision until theyve been exposed to your marketing message at least five times? See a problem here? * If you are not doing it yet, start an online or offline newsletter. Create a monthly postcard program. Regularly send out information you come across that your audience would benefit from. * Use technology to automate your follow-up. Online use sequential autoresponders that can be put on total auto-pilot. Offline use fax and voice broadcasting technology to leverage your time and connect with people quickly, meaningfully and affordably. 5. Makeover Your Marketing Assets. We all have a limited amount of time, and if you are spending it all working with clients you are not creating long-term leverage. Schedule time every week to create marketing assets that work for you. * Invest in your own knowledge: read more books, attend high-end training programs, purchase home-study courses, hire mentors to help you gain greater proficiency. Become a perpetual learner and always look for ways to transfer or implement your knowledge quickly. * Continually build your credibility and positioning: ask all clients for testimonials, develop new talks on your subject of expertise, create information products. * Give your marketing materials (like business cards, websites and brochures) a quick look-over. Are they consistently communicating the right marketing message? Are they written in a lively, persuasive and client-relevant language or are you still insisting on telling your prospects your companys history, vision and mission statement thinking they actually care? * Develop tools and systems: create checklists to make routine tasks easier to delegate, implement an extra follow-up step that can be automated or outsourced, record your talks and teleseminars and turn them into Attraction Tools. Finally, keep this in mind: these are all simple things but combined they can make or break your business. So while others are preoccupied planning their summer vacation, I suggest you get busy giving your business a marketing makeover. (c) 2005 Adam M. Buy a Phone Online or at the Mall?

June 7th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jennifer_LaPidus]Jennifer LaPidus In the world of communications and consumer electronics, cell phones have become as common as Coca Cola. Of course Coca Cola has just a few flavors, while cell phone varieties are so varied it is hard to make sense of them. Not only does a consumer have to find the right phone he also has to decide whether to buy at the local mall or online. Most consumers want something that will fit their needs, and the internet offers the opportunity for consumers to review the options and compare, all from the comfort of their living room.At the same time physical “brick and mortar” carrier stores at the local mall have much to offer consumers. Many still believe it is important to go to a physical store to compare and actually feel the cellular product in your hand but the question is can a consumer still get the best deal at the local mall or shopping center or does he lose out on the big savings with the limitations of a brick and mortar store. It isn’t so easy to find one store that offers phones from all the major carriers and all the leading manufacturers as well though Wallmart may be moving in this direction. But if one does go to the local mall usually all the carriers are there, each with kiosk and the customer can give each carrier store or kiosk a visit and actually get the opportunity to “touch and feel” many different cell phones in his hands. From Cingular to T-Mobile kiosks, to the new Sprint/Nextel stores and the Verizon Wireless shops and of course Radio Shack, and Wallmart. The advantages of shopping at the local mall for a cell phone can not be underestimated. With the proliferation of online cell phone stores in today’s market, there are many to choose from including Wirefly, Lets Talk and YouNeverCall. Stores like these have become synonymous with quality service and accurate information in the cell phone industry. many of these online stores routinely offer phones at low prices. With hundreds of products for sale, and cell phone service plans with all the major carriers, these stores have become more popular on the web. Each store brings the vast world of wireless phones right up to the consumer so he can avoid the long line at the check-out counter not to mention crowded parking lots and traffic jams. On the other hand, shopping at the mall does have solid advantages that can’t be dismissed easily. Mostly it depends on the consumer’s personality and it is best to visit each of the carrier stores to get a “taste” of each and learn about the benefits and disadvantages of each. The same is true online, it is best to visit each of the online cell phone stores and research which one best suites your needs. USA and Canada in the Top of Indoor Tanning Products

June 1st, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Dana Scripca In United States of America and Canada, indoor tanning products are very usual. Moreover, the indoor tanning businesses have appreciably grown in the last 25 years and are still increasing, getting more and more sophisticated. It’s hard to compete with the global beauty industry. Surprisingly or not, the American population is spending more time and money on beauty than on their education. Thus, regardless of sex, nationality, age or occupation, Americans are extremely attached to indoor tanning salons. The usual surveys reveal the extent of the indoor tanning business in local communities. Americans and Canadians are satisfied with the fact that indoor salons provide a rigurously controlled tanning process, gradual and under supervision. Thanks to these factors, sunburns and health problems are almost out of the question. For instance, 85 percent of those surveyed admit that they really believe in indoor tanning safety. A lot of people also appreciate the privacy and the comfort they get in a tanning salon, which offers them a real break from all the daily tasks they have to attend. The latest surveys reveal a more balanced male/female profile as compared to a few years ago. Unlike nowadays, in 1996, in most cases women were usual clients. But in the recent years men have become accustomed to indoor tanning facilities and tanning tips. Many Americans have experienced at least one indoor tanning session in the last ten years. It is said that more than 10 percent of the American population will visit an indoor salon facility. On the other hand, women hold the supremacy of ownership. Surveys point out that more than 50 percent of the indoor salons have female ownership. Neither the age of the tanners nor the nationality is an obstacle for Americans and Canadians. Now, 70 percent of all indoor tanners are over 25 years old. It is no longer a taboo. A lot of people want to cure themselves (from psoriasis, for instance) and to be fit. Presently there are 25,000 Professional Indoor Tanning Facility Businesses and also 160,000 employees in this industry. The number of clients is encouraging, too: 28 millions. As a matter of fact, a professional indoor tanning salon is operating in almost every town of the USA. There have been reports saying that Hispanic and Afro-American groups share the trend and their number is rising. Top Internet Dieting Resources

May 29th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Madison Lockwood Dieting is a principal health topic in the U.S. and rightfully so. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, almost two thirds of American adults (age 20 years and older) qualify as overweight. That’s slightly over 127 million people, sixty million of whom qualify as obese, or seriously overweight. It’s a major problem for our population - and therefore, naturally, a major topic on the Internet. There are dozens of sites that are more or less informative on the issues of weight loss and dieting and dozens more that pitch one diet program or another, or provide commercial content on several diets. There’s lots of money being devoted to web advertising to steer you to one diet or another, many of which have become names familiar in most households. Of the informative sources, perhaps the most thorough on the issue of weight is the American Obesity Association (www.aoa.org) which treats the affliction as a disease and has extensive educational material available. Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org) does an excellent job discussing the basics of dieting. Their material addresses types of diets (as opposed to brands); the relationship of exercise and dieting; how calories are counted and how they work; and some of the dangers inherent in misguided attempts at dieting. Diets are also the core of a major American industry. Millions are spent annually on specialty diet programs - on books, prepared food programs, and hands-on therapy that involve both diet and exercise. If you’re looking for an analysis of the online resources for dieting, there’s a fairly extensive body of material at www.freedieting.com. The title itself illustrates the mercenary nature of most diet web sites; however it’s a place to start if you want to learn about the more popular online diet programs. Freedieting.com provides recommendations on programs, rankings based on popularity, and lots of content on the ancillary items such as workout plans and calorie counters. It is unclear, however, what criteria their recommendations are based on: it could be advertising, or it could be truly objective analysis. Given the title of the site, it may be a combination of the two. An openly commercial site that provides comparisons of fourteen online diet programs can be found at http://www.diet-plan-offers.com. While it’s clear that the programs found there paid for positioning, it provides you with an opportunity for some quick comparisons of diet program models. In November the Department of Health and Human Services in conjunction with the FDA, announced two online tools to assist consumers in dieting. The tools are Make Your Calories Count, a Web-based learning program, and a new Nutrition Facts Label brochure. These tools combine an online diet program with a detailed explanation of how to use the nutritional facts posted on every food item sold publicly. It is the government’s attempt at countering the rising tide of obesity in this country and it is possibly the only truly cost-free program you’ll find online. You can find the details at http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2006/NEW01508.html. For an overall look at the health issues and diet programs, there is a good list of specific sites found at http://www.medsurfer.com/library/diet.htm. This page contains a list of web sites that are mostly products of government agencies or non-profit organizations. The sites address particular issues such as types of fats; nutrition guides and includes archival resources on dietary management. There is a vast amount of information online about nutrition and dieting. There are also vast numbers of online diet programs, of various designs, that are paid services. If you are interested in an online diet and exercise program, choosing among them is the second biggest challenge you will face. The number one challenge, of course, will be mustering up the discipline to follow it. Madison Lockwood is a customer relations associate for ApolloHosting.com. Making Jewelry for Fun

May 26th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Mike McDonough Jewelry making today is much simpler than most people think. Anyone can do it. This is a hobby where you can use your creativity to create unique and one of a kind pieces of jewelry you can wear and showcase daily. There are many types of jewelry making techniques that dont require welding or other advanced techniques. You can make beautiful, one of a kind pieces through assembling beads, stones, pearls and crystals with basic jewelry materials known as findings. Pliers are used extensively to cut, bend, and manipulate the findings to assemble a piece of jewelry. Findings include clasps, connectors, ear wires, jump rings, and many others. Jewelry can be made from specific designs or from custom layouts of beads and other elements. Some of the basic techniques include stringing and knotting, bead weaving, and wire wrapping. Stringing is the most basic technique where beads, pendants, crystals or stones are threaded onto a thread or cord. Knot or crimps are typically placed between them to separate the pieces. Bead weaving is where smaller beads are threaded and interlaced to make intricate designs. Wire wrapping is where wire itself is wrapped to become the jewelry elements. Wire can also be combined with beads and other elements to form unique pieces. You can even make your own findings with wire. A variety of different threads/wires/cords, findings and stringing elements (beads, pearls, stones, or crystals) are made from different materials and come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. These variations and the way in which they are used within the piece make up the basic elements of a piece design. Materials range in prices due to their materials and their quality. Most simple findings are a base metal and dipped in silver, gold, or nickel. More expensive ones may be pure gold or other metals. The threads/wires/cords, findings and stringing elements are typically included with different project ideas; you can also experiment with different items to create your unique jewelry designs. Most hobby and craft stores carry all the supplies and tools you will need to get started in this fun filled craft. Spend a little time researching the type of jewelry you would like make and then purchase the tools you need to complete the task. Do not skimp on the tools. The tools used by crafters of jewelry make completing your project much easier and the finished project looks professional. Have fun and enjoy making jewelry. It is always a great feeling when someone asks where did you get those earrings? and you can say I made them myself. Approx. equipment costs: About $20-$50 for basic equipment Approx. costs per project: $10 and up for basic beading projects - depends on size, types of materials, and quality of findings Difficulty for beginners: Easy Approx. time to complete project: basic projects take less than an hour Types of Projects: Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, eyeglass cords, etc. Mike McDonough is and avid hobbyist. Phenylpropanolamine (PPH) Lawyer: Decongestant Causes Stroke

May 18th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Anna_Henningsgaard] Anna Henningsgaard Phenylpropanolamine, or PPH, used to be an active ingredient in many over the counter nasal decongestants and weight control drug products. The FDA pulled phenylpropanolamine off the market in May of 2000 when a Yale University School of Medicine study found that patients using PPH were at a higher risk of hemorrhagic stroke, or bleeding of the brain. By then it had been in popular use for many years, but because strokes are such serious and unpredictable afflictions and safer alternative drugs readily available, the FDA alerted customers to the danger and issued a recall on phenylpropanolamine. The Yale University study found that women were at a higher risk of hemorrhaging and stroke than men, but that men were still at increased risk. The products using PPH were varied, but they all should have listed phenylpropanolamine as an active ingredient on the label and it is almost entirely unavailable in the US market. Recently forwarded email chains have warned of dozens of products that contain PPH, but this list is outdated and the products on this list have already removed phenylpropanolamine as a drug ingredient. Some people maintain that the FDA was being overly cautious in removing phenylpropanolamine from the market, citing its years of successful use. PPH was only found to increase the risk of stroke during the first three days of use and mostly in female study participants. It is still an active ingredient in many drugs produced and sold outside of the United States, though it is generally unavailable in the US. If you or someone you love has suffered a stroke while using phenylpropanolamine (PPH) or experienced any other negative side effects, contact a lawyer to discuss the PPH recall and your specific situation. Are American Women Driving Their Men Away?

May 14th, 2008 by ninnobourgon

By Sarah Tanner Recently, I stumbled across something on the internet. A particular website caught my eye… and provided a solid hour or more of eye-opening reading. What was it? This website offers little in the way of looks, and a lot in the area of crassness and yukky language. However, looks don’t always matter these days when it comes to websites. What matters is what you’re reading. And this website more than delivered in that way. The topic is controversial. The website might upset you. But if you’re a woman who wants to understand men, or a man who wants to read what other men are thinking and feeling, this is one sure place to visit. http://www.nomarriage.com Nomarriage.com is by a man who says that marriage is a bad idea, and that having children is highly overrated. In fact, he says that the only reason for getting married is to have children. Why does he feel this way? He makes this very clear: it’s because of what American women have become, in his eyes. They have a huge sense of entitlement, and they treat their men badly. They manipulate their way into marriage by making things as nice as possible for their intended, but once the wedding vows take place, the “fun” is over - sometimes very abruptly, from many of the stories that are quoted on the website. I found nomarriage.com to be fascinating reading. Like the readers of my website, I care very much how men feel and what they think. There is no question about it - this man does indeed have a valid point! What he describes is indeed reality in countless marriages! Many, many men are resigned, disappointed, hurt, disgusted, stuck, or just plain finished with marriage - or at least with marriage to American women. An attractive, reserved, intelligent young man I know, whom I respect very much, quietly wooed and wed a darling young girl from Japan. They have been married about three years now and just had their first child. She adores him, and she also joined his religious faith. They are clearly very happy together. Something led him to go thousands of miles to find a wife. What was it? Read nomarriage.com for yourself and let me know what you think. You might get mad at me for saying that this writer has a point - but in fact, he does - and there’s just no denying it. What will you gain from reading this man’s website? You will get an unforgettable insight into what men truly want and need from their wives and girlfriends. Look at this website in this light, and learn a great deal about what matters to many men. And remember my warning that it is oftentimes rather distasteful reading - but nonetheless, quite an eye-opener. Don’t let the love of your life become as unhappy as these men have become! By Michael Bustamante Environmental engineering applies principles of mathematics and science to solve problems of the environment. Opportunities abound in environmental engineering in the many areas of environmental protection, including air pollution and toxic materials control, radiation protection, management of hazardous waste materials, water supply and wastewater management, public health, and land management. Environmental engineering as a subject is as varied as are opportunities. An environmental engineer may be a designer, a researcher, pollution control operations technician, a professor, a planner, a government official, a manager, or a social worker. Employment may be found in a university, a private consulting firm, a research organization, a testing laboratory, a government agency, or any type of large or small business. Environmental engineering requires at least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, but more often a Masters Degree is expected. A Ph.D. in Engineering provides even more advantages to finding employment in the field. Subjects of study to acquire a degree in environmental engineering include math, science, and engineering, and as environmental engineering professionals deal with people, studies in the humanities as well as strong skills in writing and speaking are important. Communications studies and a lot of practice are necessary for the environmental engineering professional. Find your environmental engineering educational institution at www.schoolsgalore.com.
